Benefits of Medicinal Mushrooms
On May 5th, we visited the Union Square Greenmarket and learn more about the fascinating subject that is medicinal mushrooms. Joe Rizzo, the owner of Blue Oyster cultivation, showed us his collection and display of both edible and inedible mushrooms and shared with us some the unique benefits. Here is a brief synopsis of what we learned!

Benefits of the Reishi Mushroom:
reduce stress
decrease symptoms of depression
improve the quality and quantity of sleep
contains both anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects
Many people reap the benefits of it by making tea or using it in its powder form. The second mushroom discussed is the Turkey Tail mushroom.
Benefits of the Turkey Tail Mushroom:
rebounding of the immune system after cancer treatments, such as radiation and chemotherapy
